Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Examples are: Shepradoole (german shep w/ poodle) Labradoodle (lab w/ poodle) Saint Berdoodle (saint bernard w/ poodle) ect ect

I mean, you have to admit they turn out pretty ugly w/ the crazy curly hair. Why are poodles most popular to crossbreed?

Is it true that if they are mixed half w/ the poodle, they do not shed hair? Is that why they love to crossbreed dogs w/ poodle dogs?

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Because they are too many *bleep*ing uneducated people who think that any dog thats crossed with a Poodle with be "hypoallergenic" and never shed. Even purebred Poodles are 100% allergy free.

Back yard breeders and puppy mills are having a field day with this and are mixing any breed with a Poodle, so they can sell them for way more that they're worth to these idiots that fall into these wave of lies that are spreading all over the dog world.

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

1) Because they're idiots.

2) Because they can con people into thinking that a Poodle mix is "hypoallergenic" or "non-shed".

3) Because people are stupid enough to buy them.

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Because their furry and little?

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Because the poodles coat is very low to no-shedding, so they hope to capture that trait and combine it with other dog breeds. So, for example, if someone likes german shepherds but want a dog that doesn't shed like a poodle... well thus is born the Shepradoodle.

Because anything blablablaDOODLE sounds cute.

To others, not me...

And people are stupid... Oh, wait, someone else said that too... ;-)

There are several of these so called "designer breeds" out there. Breeders that do this sort of thing do a real disservice to the new owner and to the dogs as well. What you often get is the worst temperament characteristics of each breed. These so called breeders often do not check the genetic backgrounds of the involved dogs and then pass on defects with their "new" breed.

Greedy breeders doing unethical things for stupid people.

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Because the poodle sheds less hair than most other dogs, but isn't that popular because of the "poodle look". So illegitimate breeders cross other breeds with the poodle, in order to scam unsuspecting consumers into buying a dog that supposedly doesn't look like a poodle, but doesn't shed hair.

Which isn't true at all. If you mix a Lab with a Poodle, you can't guarantee that the pup will have the look of the Lab and the non-shedding coat of the Poodle. It's pretty much the luck of the draw. The puppy could have any combination of its parents' genetics - it could end up with the look of the Poodle, but the heavy-shedding coat of the Lab.

I guess they're hoping they can get some poodle traits in the offspring. Poodles are very intelligent, great for people with allergies because they don't have pet dander, and they have fur instead of hair which means they don't shed. Now I don't know if these traits actually pass over to the offspring.

Good question I've often wondered that myself. Weird eh!

Why do dog breeders always use the Poodle to breed it w/ other dogs?

Here's my theory:

1.) You have the poodles that don't shed, and if people use the poodle, they can "claim" the dog doesn't shed (when most of them do)

2.) You've got folks who really "want" a poodle, but are afraid of the stereotypes of poodles- I see these all the time- they have a mix, but they are glad that it's so much like a poodle!
