He probably will have coat problems until you put in on a good diet. Nutrition plays a big part into coat problems. He will go thru a major shed a couple times a year like to lose the winter coat. Brush him regularly, It's gonna get worse before it gets better but IT WILL GET BETTER. Stress can also cause shedding and he is in a stressful situation.

It sounds as if someone has been heavy handed with him. Instead of petting over the top, kneel down or sit on the floor and pet from the side. Talk quietly and "coo" Tell them they will never be abused again and they are a good dog.

You will find different weirdnesses that they might have as they come along. Deal with it when they happen and chalk it up to the abuse from before. Obedience train and bonding will change both your lives. Exercise is important but not all of it has to be outside. Playtime is exercise too. It will take a while...it's only been a week.

They blow coat twice a year...they SHED daily like furred creatures do.

Your new dog is most likely hiding under the bed because he was abused or such by a previous owner.

And yes, herding breeds need alot of excercise. If you can, get him some herding classes or do agility.

Just try this following link :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dog...

They described all types of dog breeds completely including your new beloved corgi.

i have a neighbor that has a dog like that and they never walk it and it is fine. The dog also likes to hide under a bed and is usually scared of motors. Don't worry about exercising, just throw a toy or a frisbee every now and again.

Hope this helps!

All animals shed daily. You can minimize the hair in your house if you brush him daily.

If he acts afraid, he may have been abused, or is just adjusting to his new surroundings. Be sure to speak softly, don't raise your hand to him and treat him lovingly. He will then get to know you mean to do not harm. You may need to be patient, but it will be well worth it!!

Good luck and you are doing a nice thing!!

He was most likely abused and you should brush him daily to get rid of fur also this is normal. You should put him in classes for dogs to work on that.

thast just normal for a dog to shed it's fur, i have a dog also (rottweiler) and he really sheds alot. Shedding is just natural...razzie is right also your dog might have been abuse or maltreated by his previous owner thats why his afraid of you.Just have lots of patience in your dog, it takes time before he feels that his safe with your company,...TC,

Sorry, your dog is going to shed year around. Twice a year he's going to shed a lot more. It's part of having a dog.

You need to go and do some research on corgi's. Do a google search and get some info there.
