Found a dog?

well the dog found me. This little white dog has been sitting on my door step all day. I live on the top floor of my apt. buliding and this little dog has made itself home on my welcome mat. it will not leave, well tonight I took it inside cause it was going to get real cold tonight. he is in my bath room, I went to walmart to get some things it might need. it has a collar but no tags on it. i am going to put out a flyer at the mailbox to see if anyone has lost it, but I think I really want to keep it. It is a little thin so I dont know if it has eating lately. I plan to feed it, give it dewarming pills just in case it has some (cause I have small children) and give it a bath do itd hair. so after all that what should I do? should I look high and low for the owner of just keep it for myself?

Found a dog?

take it to the SPCA it might be micro chipped so an owner Can be found don't deworm the dog ,if you plan to keep the dog it needs a full vet check up vaccinations and a worming pro gramme.

Found a dog?

you really should check around and see if there are any ads for missing dog

Found a dog?

i would keep it obviously it sounds like the owner did not want it or was treating it bad especially if it was thin

"IF" you are going to keep the dog for any length of time you should take it to the Veterinarian to make sure worms aren't the only problem the animal might have. There are other problems which can be passed to people also.

Found a dog?

post the flyer and check with local vet offices or even the radio station. if no luck, give that dog a good home!

Found a dog?

post his pic around your area

his owner could be worried

try the newspaper

Found a dog?

Look for flyers of the missing dog in your neighborhood, if you dont find any then whoever lost the dog may not want it. It is hard to say about putting your own flyer out as you never know if the owner deserves the dog or someone else is watching for flyers to try and scam a dog for sale to research company. I would feed and see if dog is friendly around children and food at same time, as some stray's can be touchy around small child near food. Never leave child and dog alone together in same room with food until you know it is not tempermental over this issue. Have a vet check it out to be sure of good health. If you dont want to keep call and find good shelter that gives dogs to good homes. Good luck!

I would look in the papper under lost ads and look around at flyers and if you dont see any sign of its owner looking for him hes yours. Enjoy your new dog.

Found a dog?

DONOT give the dog over the counter deworming pills,if the dog hasnt been checked by a vet first,it can be very dangerous.!!

Found a dog?

well ,i would put out those flyer because there mite be childen missing the dog. it was nice that you took the dog in on a cold night. if no one claims him ,then he is your

check your newspaper for the lost ads, ask your neighbors, call the local shelter and put up the flyer. Give it 1-2 wks then consider the dog yours. Just remember that if you keep it then you need to continue to keep it in good health and love it for a number of years and your children will probably be ecstatic over having a loving animal in their home. Good luck and thank you for caring for a stray.

Found a dog?

YES u should look for the owner before you keep it. You dont know if somebodies heart is broken trying to find it. Accidents happen and it does not mean the owner is any less responsible, you dont know what it's story is. A local vet can scan its neck to see if its microchipped, check the lost and found, put an ad in yourself it's free if you've found something, post some flyers in your area and ring any rangers/shelters/vets in youre area. If my boy ever went missing and someone just kept him id be devastated, hes chipped and all but still you need to the right thing first, then if theres no owner he's meant to be yours. Sorry I dont mean to be negative you sound like a wonderful person but he may be sorely missed so you do need to make the effort.
