My dog, I believe got stung by a bee. It was just laying on the porch floor and he step on it with his back left leg. What do I do?

I have not been able to find any stinger, he is a golden , and has a lot of hair.

Just watch for extream swelling or if your dog starts to show sign of difficulty breathing if that occurs then get the dog to the vets. If not than just get a cold wash cloth and place it on the paw!

he'll be fine. our pitbull got stung on the mouth over the summer, all i could do was keep ice on it, until her lip got too cold. the swelling went down overnight.

you shouldnt worry about anything, i have a border collie,(also has long hair) and bee stings dont harm the dog at all, they dont hurt, nothing bad happens dont worry hes totally fine

My kittens that lived under my porch got stung. My mom and I were cleaning it out and trying not to bother the kittend much, then we sweap over a spot then hundreds of bees were all over! Soon they were gone then the little white kitten came running on 3 feet the other one was going over his face. I Felt so bad but after a while he forgot. Your dog should be fine. If you can't find the stinger and there is one pretty soon your dog will lick it and lick it then it will be a wet so you can see the paw better then get it out.

well as long as he seems OK and hasn't gone into shock or his airway is obstructed through swollen tongue etc

then leave him be and keep eye on him,if he is showing signs of allergic reaction to a bee sting he needs to get to a vet for a animal anti-histamine injection or Adrenalin injection

Benadryl- 1 mg per pound is the correct dosage but not to exceed 2 capsules in one dosing.

I have worked for several vets and NONE of them have ever recommended more than two capsules per dosing - regardless of the size. Think about it- adult humans weigh more than a large dog and we do not exceed two tablets per dosing.

My Lab got stung on her face once %26amp; her whole face was swollen around her eyes etc... but she wasn't having trouble breathing and seemed fine otherwise so i didn't take her to a vet, just kept an eye on her... the swelling was gone the next day.

My Lilli (who is a rough coat mixed breed ) climbed the fence and got into a yellowjacket nest about a year ago. Poor little thing had at least a dozen yellowjackets matted in her coat. The vet told me to give her a benadryl and watch her. She was fine. She is a 50 lb terrier mix , so one benadryl was enough for her.
