Dog eating paper?

My dog has been eating alot of paper, he also has been chewing on plastic bottle caps and God knows what. He has thrown up twice over the Holidays, we thought just from excitement. There seemd to be alot of hair in his vomit. Today we took him for a run and he had a small amount of bleeding from hismoth. He may have just bit his tongue or something. We don't have alot ofmoneyfor a vet bill right now because of Christmas. What should we do?

You should make sure and supervise what your dog is chewing on. Buy him some chew toys. All that paper and plastic bottle caps will make him sick. The bottle caps are a no-no!! They could tear something inside his belly and then you would be REALLY paying for a vet bill!!! Make sure and buy him some toys!!

my dog is the same way...i dont know what to do either....im thinkin about taking my dog to the vet or something

I would say the best way to save the dog and the vet bill would be to clean up your floor. Make sure there is nothing that your dog can reach that he is not allowed to have. This will sound silly, but get on your hands and knees and go through the house remove everything that you see that is on his level. Get him several bones and other chew toys that he is allowed to chew on. This way he will not get sick, and you won't have to take him to the vet.

get a him a bone or chew toy.. because just like babies dogs do ((not sure how to spell it, but i'm sure you'll know what i mean)) teethe??

My Lab eats paper as well. I have bought him treats, he has food available to him, dog toys, bones etc. I begin to think it is in there nature.

I continue to watch him, I continue to say, " no," when he goes for the paper.

Firs of all, dogs should be supervised with everything they put into their mouths.

Vomiting in pets is VERY SERIOUS and should not be taken lightly. You should call your vet and see what they say. If your dog has something lodged in it's intestines, it could be tearing the tissue. The longer you wait, the more damage it will do.

My dog had a similar situation happen, he ate a needle. I called the vet and after they asked me several questions, they recommended I feed him an entire loaf of bread. They said the bread would form a ball and help him pass the needle, and it did.

Please, please, please do not take this as professional advice. I am not a vet. I recommend that you first call your vet and get advice from them. They know your dog's history and can better advise you on your particular situation.

Believe me, I know what you mean about vet bills. I just spent $4,000 on surgery for my dog. Being a responsible pet owner means being able to pay vet bills. If you are in a situation where you can't afford your pet's vet bills, there are a lot of organizations out there that will help you with the bill. Please don't avoid seeing a vet because of the cost. Your pet's life could depend on it.

I hope your pooch is okay. Good luck!

O.K. You ask for it !! Alot of people are going to be telling you like it is!! If they are pet people !! First of all____ Why aren't you watching your dog to make sure he/she isn't eating or chewing on something that could kill him.her???!! If you were watching it then you wouldn't be having to worrying about what it could of ate and worrying about taking it to the vet now and no money!!! A dog is like having a child ,you have to watch it , you wouldn't let a child chew on bottle caps would you ,cause you know it could get choked to death, well so can your dog, or it can get lodged inside the dog and then kill it if not removed by surgury! You are asking for trouble if you don't watch your pet and as a pet owner you are responsible to take good care of your pet, if you love your pet! You are responsible to make sure your pet doesn't eat something that can make it sick or even kill it !! You shouldn't let it eat papers or anything that could harm your pet! Give your pet proper chew toys and chew bones for it !! Take away what ever your pet gets that is bad or harmful to him and say NO firmly and right after that give him a chew bone or a chew toy, and say good boy! So he learns that it is o.k. to chew on the chew bones and not the ones you say NO too !! it takes time but it will learn if you keep it up !! And always provide correct chewing toys and bones. Dogs get bored and like chewing, mine have chew toys all over the house, so they won't chew on other stuff! Why would they when they got plenty of good stuff to chew on?? You really should take better care and watch over your pet, if you really care about it!!! I 'm not being mean, just honest and direct!! Any pet owner will tell you the same!! If he's throwing up you best be ready to take him to a vet and not put it off! Ask your self whats more important, a gift that can be bought again and replaced or a pet you love that can't be replaced! A living creature!! what do you think? Stuff can be bought again and its just stuff, and you can get another dog but it wouldn't be the same dog at all !! plus a Life is more important then any thing you can buy !!
