Allergy on our dog?

Our dog has broken out in a allegy rash due to being sprayed with exelpet .It was a honest mistake. We thought it would not harm her by also sprayng the liquid directly onto her coat also spraying her bedding. She has not got any itching but several small areas where she has lost patches of hair.We have been shampooing her with a anteseptic wash since her skin broke out.Can anybody suggests any treatment or remedies for us to treat her with.Otherwise she is a lovely healthy dog.Thanking anyone that answers me.Yes she has been seen by a vet to no avail.

It was ok to try to wash it off but unfortunately it was already absorbed in her skin. Stop the washing immediately. When skin is irritated washing makes it worse. Call and get a 2nd opinion from another vet. She may need a steroid to take care of it. I wouldn't try anymore topical solutions unless your vet recommends it. Also, when trying something new on a pet follow the directions carefully and also do a very small test patch on her to test for allergies. Best of luck!

As long as you have removed the offending liquid from the dog's coat and her bedding, she'll heal. Make sure you remove all traces of it from her environment, though. Brush her and don't over shampoo or you'll wash away her natural protective immunity.

Allergy on our dog?

Hello,

The best things you can do are: make sure there are no traces of the chemical around, anywhere. Remove all the stuff you sprayed it on, etc etc. Understand that your pets skin is very sensitive now, and make sure you are very very gentle to it. Having chemicals absorbed on her skin will also cause them to get into her blood stream, so you need to try to get her to eat and drink as much as possible to try to flush the chemicals out of her body. Raw hide bones and dry bones and things like that will definitely be tastey to her, and she'll probably go for them so long as she still has an appetite. Dry bones will also make her thirsty, so she'll drink after that. You'll just have to wait for her to get over it, I'm pretty sure that if it were going to cause her to die, it would have done so by now, but I'd take every precaution possible.

I dont think there is anything you can do other than let the dog recover over time. Don't wash her too much with the antiseptic, as she doesn't have a bacterial infection but an allergy. The antiseptic could irritate her skin even more. You might ask your vet for an anti inflammatory cream which is more soothing, See that she always has plenty of water to drink.
