Why does my dog dry quicker than my cat when I bathe them??

After I bathe my dog (welsh corgi) I towel dry her and she's almost completely dry. I can bathe my long hair cat and it takes forever for him to dry if I don't blow dry him....Why is this?

A corgi has different hair than a long haired cat. The cat hair takes longer to dry because it is long. I have 2 bichon shih-tzu crosses and their hair dries quicker if it is shorter. If it is long, then it take a while to dry.

dogs carry more oil in their fur than cats therefore water doesn't penetrate as deep into the hair itself.

because dogs shake the water off and the cat probably stays still and waits for the water to dry

for sure it's the oil's, many working dogs are this way. and you sometimes have a musky odor as well.

dogs fur is made for them to go into water and it not get deep into their coats where cats hair is like ours, we get wet down to our skin and so do they, hence, they don't like water.

well, first of all, your cat has long hair %26lt; as you said%26gt; so it will take longer to dry. also, your dog may be running around and drying itself off and your cat may be lying down. if you want them to dry at the same speed, have your dog calm down and move your cat around or dry it with a towel or blow dryer.

Well my long haired cat has very fluffy fine hair so when we take showers he soaks up like a sponge. My mom's dog however has coarse wirery hair and when she washes her the water doesn't soak at all and drys really quick. Hope that answers your question.
