Have you taken her to the vet???

1 Move

2 Cut all the oak trees down.

If you know what she is allergic to I guess you had her allergy tested. So have your vet make up the serum to desensitize her. That is the best option for you and your dog.

Bad dog allergies what to do?

get medicine from a local vet and put it in her food everyday, so that way its like allergy medicine and it wont hurt her

Bad dog allergies what to do?

yah ok im sry to say either give ur dog away or move becaus e that poor dog is being tortured by living around something that she is highly allergic to......

allergic to oak? are you serious? she's probably allergic to the food you are giving her or to fleas....

Bad dog allergies what to do?

I know homeopathy for dogs sounds weird but if it works to rid humans of their allegies, the tinctures would work for dogs to. What they do is take the oak, boil it then dilute it like 100 times and you drink it or add it to your food and your body eventually gets used to it over time with all the miniscule doses.

Bad dog allergies what to do?

If you know that your dog has an allergy to oak because you had her tested by a vet then I would say you have three choices: move; cut down all the trees; or rehome the dog.

Bad dog allergies what to do?

You might consider consulting with your vet about a possible allergy vaccination, if there is one available for her particular allergy. Send a sample of her blood to an allergy laboratory (VARL is common on the West Coast) to get a detailed report of what she is allergic to, and to what degree. They also offer allergy vaccination services, which your veterinarian can help you with if they have one available that will help her.

A couple times, I gave my dog 1/4th of a Zyrtec. That might be the answer.

Bad dog allergies what to do?

well, it doesnt seem like there is anything to do, unless you take her to the vet and maybe the vet will have allergy medicine

;]

Bad dog allergies what to do?

has she been diagnosed by the vet. with allergies to Oak or are you assuming because of all the Oak trees. if nothing else has worked a trip to the vet. is called for. he is the only one that can give her what she needs.

Bad dog allergies what to do?

First off, you should move or rehome the dog. Nothing will work as well as that. Just move away.. or rehome the dog to a better home that has no oak trees near them.

Which do you love more Your dog or the neighborhood. If you have tried everything maybe faith is forcing you to choose. Which was first, which is the most difficult to give up. Irefuse to move anywhere animals are not allowed.I f I must pay extra for the animal I will. Still it's your choice.

how do you know that she's allergic to oak?

Bad dog allergies what to do?

Forget the oak theory. You are wrong. Start with getting your dog scraped to rule out mites. After that, change your dogs food. What you are feeding is NOT working. You need a good kibble (NOT canned) or dehydrated or frozen or raw. If you choose any commercial product, you'll have to supplement with pro-biotics, digestive enzymes, %26amp; kelp. The antihystamine that is super effective is called Antronex made by Standard Process. NO treats for a while until you get ahead of this.

The best thing to do is to get the dog on allergy serum to help her.

I would seek the help of a dermatologist.

I would check a skin scraping or two.

Possibly do a deep tissue biopsy to confirm allergies and rule out parasitism's.

If it is truly allergies allergy serum will be benefical.

Hydroxizine is a more potent antihistamine that may be useful in resolving the itch.

If your pet isn't allergic to fish then omega fatty acids are a great supplement to combat inflammation.

You really should stay away from steroids if at all possible since they cause immuno suppression.

Seeking the attention of a dermatologist will save you money and your pet from additional discomfort.

Most general practioners know the basics when it comes to the skin but it is truly an area that needs specialists.

How do you know that it is Oak?

Oak is a very unusual contact allergy

If it is a contact allergy to Oak then you need to organie his life so that he does not come in contact with the part of the Oak that is the Problem. Is it the leaves? Is it the Acorns? Oak pollen is not much of a problem for respitoroy allergies but could be a consideration for contact allergies but would be very seasonal.

The majority of Canine Allergies are food allergies.

Is he eating acorns?

You obviously already had the dog allergy tested. The Veterinary Dermatologist can formulate allergy shots - just like people get. The unfortunate thing is that these injections are expensive, as you've undoubtedly found out. I assume that is why you are asking for help from non medically trained strangers on the internet. Rehoming the dog probably wouldn't help, unless you moved her to an area of the country which has no oak trees. I doubt you'll find anywhere that doesn't have oak trees. You could try a Holistic vet, but that is expensive too. The holistic vet will make up a natural, organic medication. What it would be, I have no idea. Good Luck.

I tried coconut oil on my dogs food which I bought at GNC it helped. Now that it's cool he is better. I also give him allergy pills. Keep his fur short and clean.

Atopica is good for atopy or environmental allergies. It is expensive, but seems to work for alot of animals. I would also make sure that all overlying infections have been taken care of. The suggestion for fish oil is a good one: get triple filtered medical grade. You will want to get this from your vet because dogs need a different ratio of omega 6:omega 3 fatty acids.

Allergy shots (the weekly "vaccine") works well in some dogs, but not in all dogs. The testing and formulation is expensive, but worth a try.
