Do chows have hair or fur?

My family is thinking of gitting a dog next year or so and I love chows and I am convincing my familly to get one under one conditoin. I cannot get one if it has fur because my mom is illurgic to fur. PLEASE. DO THEY HAVE FUR OR HAIR??????????????????????????????????

Do chows have hair or fur?

Chows have fur... But there is NO difference between fur %26amp; hair there the exact same thing people are allergic to the dander not the fur.

Do chows have hair or fur?

fur. i think most people are allergic to dander and saliva of the pet.

another note, please read up on the breed you get on how often to bathe them. some dogs do not need to be bathed every week or month or even years. constant bathing or too often will cause the dog's skin to be irritated

Do chows have hair or fur?

there is NO difference. fur %26amp; hair are the exact same thing people are allergic to the dander not the fur.

be very careful where you get a chow - the better choice would be an adult from a rescue

Do chows have hair or fur?

All dogs have fur. And people are allergic to their dander, not the actual fur.

The Greyhound is hypoallergenic, so they're great for people with allergies.

Do chows have hair or fur?

I have a chow at home. They have fur. To the people that say there is no difference yes there is ask any vet or groomer. And some people are allergic to dogs with fur and not dogs with hair.

Do chows have hair or fur?

Sorry... Chow's have fur... But might tell your mom she is going to have to check again. Never heard of a fur allergy (since all fur is different)... She could have a dander allergy- but that would mean any animal... since all animals have skin, they have dander. Or, she is allergic to the make up of saliva of animals...

Never heard of an allergy to fur itself... not sure that is possible. Might also want to ask if her allergies could be improved by taking anti-histamines like Claritin, Zyrtec, or Allegra.

Good luck

Do chows have hair or fur?

People are usually allergic to the dander, and not the fur. We have a sheltie (LOTS of fur), and an allergic hubby. I keep my sheltie clean (bathing and brushing), and limit the fur poofing around the house.

The problem with Chows is that the amount of fur they have is massive, and while most dogs seasonally shed, these guys seem to molt. And having the poor thing shaved at the groomers just a) negates the beauty of the breed, and b) makes the dander (dandruff in humans, and no, there's no way to get around it), more accessible to your mom's poor allergies.

Smaller breeds, like yorkies, have 'hair', in that it's silky, but the dog is still going to give off dander.

And no, there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog....believe me, I'd have one if it existed. Those little naked creatures like chinese crested still have fur/hair/fuzz.

Do chows have hair or fur?

I love chows too and yes they have "fur". Both kinds (the rough and short haired) shed A LOT all the time!!!

If you want a nice dog with "hair" check out a Springer Spaniel or English Setter.

Do chows have hair or fur?

Well, all mammals have fur, except for us, humans, since we have hair, but their really is no difference since they are both basically dead skin cells. So, yes, sadly, in this case, dogs have fur. If you DID get one though, maybe you should shave the hair off every time an inch grows back. Maybe she won't be that allergic to it. Anyways, best of luck.

Do chows have hair or fur?

Chow's are awesome -

They are cute and protective.

Just buy one and hope for the best. I'm sure your mom would grow to love them even if it kills her.

Do chows have hair or fur?

It has fur.

My mom is allergic to dogs and we got a Pekingese and he has 'hair' like fur. He does shed but his coat doesnt bother my moms allergies at ALL. We had a Shetland Sheepdog and a Husky that were given to us by one of my mothers friends that couldnt take care of them anymore and they bothered her so much we had to give them back so she can find another home for them.

My mom isnt allergic to dog 'dander' .. shes allergic to dog FUR. I can tell the difference between my Pekes hair and my Dachshunds fur. I got a Dachshund anyway even though I still live with my mom (but we turned the basement into an apartment so I basically live down there) .. so she doesnt spend alot of time near my Long Haired Dachshund.

She does fine with her for awhile, but if shes around the Doxie for too long her eyes get all watery and stuff.

Find a list of hypoallergenic dogs but Please note: One person's allergies may vary greatly from another person's. It is always wise to visit the dog to see if you are allergic to it before you bring it home.

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/allergy.htm

Find a breeder of one of the dogs and check out their facility (a good reputable breeder will have no problem with that) .. and have your mom spend a half hour with the dogs and being around them. See if she gets a reaction. She maybe allergic to the DANDER/SALIVA rather than their fur.

Hope that helps!

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

my dog lucky is 6, shes about 20 lbs, blach fur (links to pictures below). i've had her since she was 1, but she got her from a shelter and do not know what breed she is.. we were told a pekinese/cocker spaniel mix maybe but we don't think so. when we cut her hair she gets mistaken for a black lab puppy.

any input?? ~thanks~

http://img429.imageshack.us/img429/7440/...

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

A mix. She looks like she has some sort of spaniel in her...definately looks like a cocker spaniel mix...but the shelter was probably just guessing at the other part. It is so hard to say when they are a mix - as long as she is a great dog...it shouldn't really matter. I doubt there is any Lab in her if she is that small. Very cute!

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

it looks like a pekanese mix not lab i raised labs but got one with cocker in it Report It

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

terrier/mix

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

I don't think it matters what she is because so darn CUTE!! my dog is a giant mutt part Dalmatian border collie and pointer and some other dogs

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Looks like she may have some Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) and possibly some Pappion. My guess anyway

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

She sure is a sweetie, regardless of the breed. I would never have guessed she was six years old. You can tell by the eyes she's sharp as a tack. You're very lucky to have such an adorable baby. Lots of love, kindness and patience will give her a nice long life with you.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

ask your vet on your next visit

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Definitely you can see both breeds, the head shape and eyes are pekingeses and I can plainly see Cocker as well. The shelter was right. If people are mistaking her for a black lab pup they are just not familiar with the breeds. I have worked as a Vet tech for 15 years and volunteered at animals shelters , I am speaking from quite a bit of experience.Check out puppydogweb.com for pictures of purebred dogs and see what I mean.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

She does appear to be a Peke/Cocker mix. She is her own breed though...the name of her breed is ADORABLE

Here are pics of puppies of that designer dog breed, called Cockinese..%26gt; http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Definitely got terrier in her. Probably a mutt. It doesn't really matter, though, she's ADORABLE either way!

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Shelter is right, here are pekingese and cocker mix pictures and info below.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

I'm not so sure about pekinese because I do not ever remember seeing a black one before. Lab they do come in black. Got the cocker spaniel face though. Could be cocker spaniel/Lab mix.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

She's a mutt ... the best kind of dog there is. Judging from the shape of her muzzle, it's probably likely that she does have Pekingese.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Easy! You have a cocker spaniel/chawawa(dunno how to spell) maybe in earlier generations I can see a bit of pomeranian with her snout. she looks like a bit of the flat little pekinese because of her body shape and ears, that could easily be mistaken, but she has very little, if any. good luck with this cutie!

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

In your pictures i cant see her tail usually you can tell a lot about a breed with the looks of their tails...to me she looks like she may have spanial in her and possibly terrior. but its really hard to tell by not being able to see her standing up to see her body shape and stance and the way her tail goes.

try measureing her height and looking up dog breeds look at her tail in the way it hangs and also the softness or coursness of her hair also the body shape that might tell you a lot of what breeds she may have in her...some times its really hard to tell .

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

no

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

She looks EXACTLY like our Border Collie/Lab/Mystery dog mix except she's a little smaller. My guess is probably a Border Collie/Terrier mix. The Lab would make her at least 10 pounds heavier.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

i'm going with a cocker spanial/pomorainain.... does"nt matter any way, she's one of a kind. you'll never be able to replace her. just enjoy her and rember shelter dogs are the best!!!

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

she looks like a pekeapoo to me. (pekenese/poodle mix)

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

I see the cocker spaniel and what might be terrier...

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

Don`t worry about it. These so-called dog breeders don`t know ****.

Do you know what kinda dog this is??

maybe part dachund

Respiratory problem because of Doberman(dog)?

Hello,

my dad has recently had a triple bypass surgery on his heart(5 months ago) and we were considering of getting a doberman. With other animals, my dad had a hard time to breath; we had a cat not long ago with a thick fur coat and a while ago a dog and with both my dad experienced breathing problems. And i wanted to know If it is because of the animals coats or because of the surgery. And if getting a doberman would cause more breathing problems(Dobermans have a small coat of hair but they shed alot).

Also, my dad has never had any problems with asthma or allergies to domestic pets.Is it also possible that hes developping asthma or allergies?

Respiratory problem because of Doberman(dog)?

Cats and dogs have different dander in their coats, so while one may be allergic to a cat, they could be perfectly fine with a dog. I'm highly allergic to cat dander, but have had dogs all my life with no problem.

However, your father's health issues could be complicated by having pet fur and dander floating around. This is a question best posed to his heart surgeon.

Is there a good dog food that will help reduce my dog's shedding?

I have a chocolate lab/great dane mix and his hair is everywhere. Is there a good food that could help reduce this?

Is there a good dog food that will help reduce my dog's shedding?

I am a dog groomer. There is no food that would help. They say they will but that is just to get you to buy the food, But there is shampoo out there that will help cut back on the sheding about 80-90% depending on the dog hair texture. You should be able to get it at your local pet store. The shampoo haves a type of glue in it to keep the hair layed back so less will fly off. I have a couple of dogs that use it in my shop and there owner will not use nothing elese. I am not sure of the name but there are different brands out there. I hope this information will help you out.

Dog scratch me question.?

while playing with my boxer, she scratched my hand this morning. but it didn't bleed thankfully.... but its still bright red...and kinda like spots under the hair..lol will it scar???

Dog scratch me question.?

no

Dog scratch me question.?

Not really

Dog scratch me question.?

no, it wont

Dog scratch me question.?

You can talk to a doctor for free at the site below. Pick one out and ask! Good luck. ps they will email you back.

Dog scratch me question.?

no it won't it is just irratated. It will probably be red a few days depending on how bad it is. You scar from a scab being there so the skin underneath gets no light while the rest of your body does.

Dog scratch me question.?

no

Dog scratch me question.?

It could especially if you pick at it. But if you put an antibiotic bandage on it you will have the best chance of it not scarring.

Dog pregnancy?

i bred my lab 6 weeks ago today she has large teats lost belly hair and has put weight on but no discharge does there need 2 be discharge the vet stresses her out so dont want to take her

Dog pregnancy?

well there water breaks about 5-10 minutes before giving birth, and u can have a home birth depending on the breed as long as u already checked how big the pups were, and it depends on the breed too, like bulldogs almost always need c-sections

Dog pregnancy?

You may not see a discharge until she reaches time of whelping the pups.Your pet will deliver the pups at or around 9 wks. or 59 to 63 days from time of breeding.

Dog pregnancy?

About 63 days is the gestation period for a dog.

When a dog goes into labor she will start to pant %26amp; her temp will fall. when contractions start you should see a pup within an hour if not take to the vet immediatly!!!

Dog pregnancy?

She'll go off food the day she gives birth and shiver a little bit. These are god clues so watch out for them

Dog pregnancy?

6 weeks is to soon they carry for 9 weeks or 63 days

Dog pregnancy?

No there doesn't need to be a discharge. Hopefully your ***** and the sire have very low hip scores, clear elbows and current clear eye certificates. With over 45, 000 Labradors registered last year, yours needs to be pretty exceptional to be worth breeding!

Dog pregnancy?

there will be discharge when her waters break but that wont be for another 3 weeks dogs are pregnant for 9 weeks so don't worry everything seem s fine all the best

Dog pregnancy?

If you bred her in the 5 day window that she could actually be bred (dogs are not like humans - the 63 days are counted from when the eggs drop, not from when they are fertilized) then she probably is pregnant. Dogs also do not stop their cycle until after that 63 days is up as well (ie. their hormones are the same whether or not they actually conceive).

There doesn't need to be discharge, but it is indicative of conception (very light, clear discharge) - also the loss of hair and large teats are not indicative per say. If you are unsure whether she is pregnant or not, ask either your breeder or a local breed club for opinions on the matter. At about 6 weeks you may also hear the heartbeats if you us a stethoscope to listen (this is very difficult if you haven't been listening to what 'normal' is for your dog though).

Dog pregnancy?

If you've not have a vet check yet you really should take her, particulary if this is the first time you've bred a dog. You do not necessarily have a discharge when a ***** is pregnant, but you need to make sure she is definitely pregnant and not having a false pregancy or starting with a uterine infection. Your vet should also advise you about worming and nutrition, both of which are extremely important during pregnancy.

Dog pregnancy?

Any responsible pet owner knows a trip to the vet is an absolute MUST if your animal is pregnant. If you can't handle it, stop breeding your dog and cease being a pet owner.

How do you teach a dog to play?

I just adopted a dog and the foster parent says that wen he found him he looked like he was neglected badly because of his hair and health and such. Now he is healthy and groomed and everything and he isn't interested in anything! No chew toys, no balls, nothing! He just sort of looks at it and walks away. Is this normal?

How do you teach a dog to play?

Treats are a good suggestion. You can do the fetch thing by throwing them across the floor, but don't expect him to return it. Then I'd move onto a KONG. It's like a ball with a carved out middle. You can put treats inside of it, and when he returns the ball, give him a treat. Sorry, that's all I can suggest!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

How do you teach a dog to play?

Maybe he is still recovering?

How do you teach a dog to play?

thats sad...

maybe he used to be playful but got a bad experience from his past owner..

How do you teach a dog to play?

for some dogs yes. try doggie treats. that will get his attention real quick.

How do you teach a dog to play?

you kind of answered your own question "I just adopted"

give the dog a little time to become more comfortable with you and more trusting. He will play eventually. Another thing is not to force it on him, it may scare him if he was mistreated. Concentrate on giving the dog affection and earning his trust first.

Also, depending on the age and breed (breeds if mixed) he may not be that playful to begin with.

Patience.

How do you teach a dog to play?

No, but maybe you could buy him a piano. LOL Just keep gining him love, he will come around with plenty of warmth and attention. If not he may need some puppy uppers, or doggy Prozac.

How do you teach a dog to play?

you need to try different toys buy a squeek toy, a ball, a rope ( tug of war ) buy one of those thigns that you get at pet smart theyre like $12 but worth it. You can put frozen peanut butter in it and the dog will play and sniff and chew on it until the peanut butter melts sit there with h im in the room and toss the ball to some one else and maybe hell get the clue -

its possible he just doesnt have the personality to play wich is sad . Im sure there is a toy for him, put peanut butter on a rubber bone and give it to him saying good ( dogs name )

i hope this helps because i love my dogs to death and playing with them is fun - one thing i can tell you they all wont play with the same kind of toy, one likes squeek, one like a hard rubber bone, one likes just a cheap stuffed animal, one likes balls, the one likes ropes or old blankets ( tug of war ) and the other plays with everything !!!

How do you teach a dog to play?

my dog is like that alot but when we got another dog that loved playing every once and a while she would play with me because she probably wanted more attention but shes usually shy most of the time

How do you teach a dog to play?

MAYBE HE IS SO USE TO NOT PLAYING BECAUSE THE FOSTER PARENTS DIDN'T PLAY WITH HIM AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

OTHER WISE JUST TRY TO THROW A BALL TO HIM

BY THE WAY THAT'S VERY SAD :-(

How do you teach a dog to play?

my dog is the same and he's now 4 years old. i picked him up off the streets 3 years ago in a foreinge country and brought him home. he doesn't chew bones, or play catch. all he wants to do is chill.. HE LOVES HIS WALKS THOUGH, thats the only time i see his playfull side.. i love the fact that he's a chilled dog..

How do you teach a dog to play?

try touching him softly on his face (read: softly) with a toy so he notices that you want to play with him. do it again and again until he plays with you. when he gets annoyed try to throw the toy. be sure to also have food around. when you throw the toy he will be sure to bring it back as long as you have food to feed him with everytime he brings it back.

How do you teach a dog to play?

Yeah, normal for a dog that has never played with people. Dog's that haven't grown up playing ball or other games with people, find it odd. I met a dog that had only been put out into the back yard, no one went out with him ever. So when you would go outside with him, he thought it was weird to have people actually outside with him. So it makes sense that a dog that hasn't played, would find it odd, and not know how to, or want to participate. Especially if he was actually abused.. He likely is wary about new things, never knowing what might invite abuse. I say take it slow, and let him feel like he is home, and he is loved, and slowly introduce toys and games to him. Once he feels comfortable and realizes that everything isn't going to get him whacked, he'll settle down and maybe.. NOT for sure, but maybe he'll decide that it's okay to play.

How do you teach a dog to play?

I play frisbee with my dog. My advice is that you could use the frisbee as a dog bowl for awhile, so they get use to the frisbee toy and really want it.

It will take awhile as he might have got in trouble for doing things and doesn't know what playing is.

This will take awhile. You need positive reinforcement, lots of treats, everytime he looks like he is doing something. Lots of praise to start with - like it's a fun fair. You'll have to make a fool of yourself until he realises it's fun!

Start by throwing a ball or frisbee or whatever, if he goes to sniff it, or even moves towards it, - praise him. It might take a treat ever couple of steps until he picks up the ball. Praise again. start small - small steps until he gets the idea.

Good luck, it will take some time, but it will be worth it. He needs to been shown what to do, to know that he is loved and that it is ok to play.

I wish you all the best with it.

Liz

How do you teach a dog to play?

yup,he probably wasn't socialized very much.spend lots of time with him ,give him lots of attention ,no ruff housing.he'll warm up some ,but he may be aloof .he may need time to get comfortable enough to play. think if you were in a new place with new people and couldn't communicate .

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

i have a shi zu,,,sorry spelling wrong...I never see flees, but he's always scratching..I shave him in the summer, but now it's cold..we live in chicago area..I bathe him in flee bath, this doesn't work...his hair now is about 1 inch long , very thin hair. If he had flees, I'm pretty sure I could see them. but I don't......why is he scratching so much?

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

DO NOT TRY A DIFFERENT SHAMPOO! shampoo is very bad for the skin, and is causing this dryness. Ask your vet, they will say NO SHAMPOO. Dog shampoo advertises, but it is just to make you think that it is great. Sure, it shines the coat, and makes your dog smell great, but it is very irritable to the dog's skin. Water, water, water for the dog's shower. Dry your dog with a towel thoroughly after the shower to skip the doggy wet smell.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

Irritated skin from dryness. Try a different shampoo.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

If it is cold out and the heater is on it could be that he has dry skin and that is making him itch.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

He could be allergic to something in the house; maybe a blanket that has loose material? Maybe he is allergic to a plant or grass from outside?

It most likely is from grass, if he plays outside too.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

take him to the vet, it could be fleas, you don't always see them, it could also be mites, which you definitly won't see, but it can also be a skin condition like eczema or even an allergic reaction to something.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

Just see whether he has dirt! Do you wash him with soap?

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

he probably has dry skin from all the flea stuff, give him a bath with some oatmeal doggy shampoo...it will calm the itch some, and maybe get him some skin %26amp; coat treats...i like the authority brand...they are only like $4 at petsmart :) i'm sure your pooch will be better in no time!

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

My Shih Tzu suffers from allergies which makes her scratch and rub her head on the carpet. I give her 闄?of a tablet of benadrly which stops her from scratching herself all day.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

i had this problem with my dog he probly had fleas and the stuff u washed him in he has had a bad reacsen with the shampoo so go to the vet and get sum sastive dog sampoo dog have way mor sestive skin then nus remember that

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

Definitely sounds like an allergy - a short course of cortisone (steroid) from the vet and a low irritant shampoo (like someone mentioned, oatmeal - or aloe vera) - will take care of it in no time :)

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

Could be fungal or bacterial infections of the skin, could be allergies, you have to take him to a vet. it could even be the shampoo you use, and do not use shampoo for humans nor harsh dog shampoo either. Don't shampoo more than 1once a week or more either, dries the skin and could also cause this itching. Could be nerves too - so many possibilities for this.

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

Could be mites. Certain litters are prone to getting them. So I would insist in you taking your doggy to the vet so he can be diagnosed and cured as soon as possible. Always Remember a healthy dog is a happy dog!!

Why is my dog itching with no flees?

my dog only does it when she get excited.

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

Last night I gave my two 6 month old Westies a greenie each as a treat after I brushed their hair . One of them bit off the end and swallowed it whole! She started freaking out and couldn't breathe! It was so scary - you could feel the greenie stuck in her throat!

Immediately I tried the heimlich manuver and it seemed to dislodge it but it was still stuck in her throat but she was getting a little air. My boyfriend watched her while I contacted the animal hospital, who told me that there wasn't anythingI could do for her except bring her in (thanks for nothing!!)

After a few more thrusts she eventually puked and disloged the chunk from her throat and swallowed it. I googled "choking dog" and I reacted properly, which I was unaware of until it was too late. (I have F.A./C.P.R. certs)

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? What did you do? How did things turn out?

Maggie is ok now, but I dont think we will be eating any greenies as treats in the near future! :)

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

My little puppy has a tendency to eat too fast. And twice now she has gotten food stuck in her throat. The first time she got this weird look on her face and her stomach area looked like it caved in and she just looked so sad. I picked her up and pushed her chest area and she coughed up a wad of half-chewed dog food. Same thing happened the second time, except it wasn't as bad. She was still getting a little air and was able to cough it up herself.

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

my lab/border collie choked on a stick and my grandma had to stick her hand down his throat to get it out very scary

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

Yes, as a matter of fact. My 2 year old miniature Chihuahua. I put my finger WAY back in her mouth, and tapped the back of her tongue. The gag reflex worked, and she hoarked it up. It wasn't a fun moment. She's OK.

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

Mine got a piece of carrot stuck in her throat and i had to do the heimlich manouver myself and she is a Spanish Mastif, mind you i should of just climbed inside her mouth it's big enough.

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

One of my MinPins choked on a frozen slice of banana and I did the doggy Heimlich which dislodged it and he dove into his food bowl while I shook. And tossed his slice over the fence. He was a piggy dog and would rather swallow then chew. Some dogs are like that, my GSD was too, so their treats were always chewable or very large and taken away at swallow size. Any treat or food can choke so it is not just greenies or hotdogs, one needs to know their dogs eating/gulping habits and adjust accordingly.

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

yes my sister has a very tiny Pom ( 2 pounds) if something is dropped on the floor ( food) she tries to swaoolow it whole.

I have taken the Red Cross Pet First Aid and CPR class. Not only to help my dogs put ohters as well as cats.

I have had to give mouth to snout to a dog at one time as well.

All my scenerios have turned out just fine.

Vets just seem to be ut for the money anymore

Have you ever had your dog choke on something??

My pug, was given a sausage. Half a sausage. The little monkey tried to swallow it whole. All of a sudden I noticed her not breathing and collapsing.

I did the Heimlich.

The sausage flew across the room (I could see that there were no chew marks on it) she wrenched herself from my arms, and grabbed the sausage again.

She is not allowed sausages anymore.

At the time I was crying, but now, it is a funny story, all turned out well. But she is a little piggy.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

My dog scratches so bad that he has scabbs. He does not have fleas or anything like that. He pulls out his hair when he bites at his skin. I don't know if he has a skin problem or what? He also sheds really bad and once again I dont know if it is from a skin problem or what? PLEASE HELP HIM!

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

My Dog has a bad skin problem that is very similar. We took him to the vet because he was scratching all the time and loosing his hair in places, the skin looked like it hurt.

This is what the Vet said and some other things I've figured out that really make a difference.

The vet said that it is most likely a skin allergy. It could be a number of things, off brand dog food, allergies to plants in the yard. And you can try to do tests to figure out what allergy it is but it might not tell you anything and the test are really expensive. He said the best thing to do is to GIVE HIM BENADRYL! Yes the over the counter medicine we take.

I have a big dog so I have to give him three tablets.

BUT YOUR DOGS PROBLEM MIGHT NOT BE ALLERGIES IT MIGHT BE SOMTHING MORE SEROUS LIKE MANGE.

Read this it will help to identify what your dog has!

http://dogs.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Dog_Skin...

Now this might not help long term to cure anything but this is what I do to make my dog more comfortable.

He hates it but I give him a bath

I then use put on peroxide to disinfect the skin, I warm it in the microwave for 30seconds so it's not cold. It's so simple but I found is the best thing to disinfect.

There are also shampoo閳ユ獨 and soaps that are made for skin problems, that you can get at the pet store. Or sometimes I just use a gentle soap like dove.

And after I wash him so his skin not dry I put on a little no fragrance no color no nothing lotion. I know I'm saying on his skin, well his hair didn't grow back in places like his neck and his belly. So I can see the skin to work with it.

If it was me I would take your dog to the vet, because it might be something more serous that can transfer to people. It's important you really know what it is.

It's funny you asked this I was just on my way to take care of my dogs skin. If I take care of his skin frequently his allergy doesn't bother him.

I hope you figure out what your dog has.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Scratch for him!

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

go to the vet he may be allergic

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Take him to the vet and describe the problem. He might have a food allergy. He might have a skin condition. Either way, he should see the vet.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Take him to the vet. It is the only way you are going to get to the bottom of this.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

My vet calls it allergies. Advantage always seems to ease the pain fleas or no fleas. Get some medicated shampoo and or some anti-inflamatory med for yer dog.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

He might be suicidal!!

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Buy a supplement called Linatone, it makes the hair and skin supple. Also, get some Sulfodene spray and spray the dog down in the itchy spots 2x a day. Sounds like extremely dry skin, but both of those products will help.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

take him to the vet..the same happened with my dog, he had skin scrapes and everything turned out to be a severe form of dermatitis

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Get him some flea spray and a collar!

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

The best help should come from your veterinarian. They will be able to find the cause of the itching, and then can prescribe the proper treatment for the ailment. Why not make an appointment now? Good luck.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

It sounds like he is having an allergic reaction to something.

You need to consider what type of cleaners you use on your carpets, what you are feeding him and what you wash his bedding with.

I would talk to the vet about what type of anti itch meds you can give to him.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

You said he doesn't have fleas, so he has dry skin. Put a table spoon of vegetable oil in every feeding you give him. Not only will that help his skin, but eventually his fur will shine be and healthier.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

This could be so many things; mites, allergies, a nutritional deficiency. Food tends to be a high scratching allergen. I'd slowly change his food to a single protein, single carb (Wellness has a 'simple solution' food) and I'd add a fish oil capsule to his food. AND I'd take him to a vet who might be able to give you some insight into the dogs issues.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

My dog did this and i tryed everything i could thnk of and then finally i tryed different dog foods and came to this one for my dog which is a small dog around l0 lbs. I now use Little Bites Indoor Complete and this has worked its by Purina and its not an expenisve food which i did try. Good Luck.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

possible dry skin....dogs are carnivores and naturally require animal oils.....do not over bathe your dog and if meat drippings are generated in your home, put some on your dogs food. also, pet shops or your grocery pet section have stuff to add to your pets food. one brand name I recall is Linatone...but there are many. Again, over bathing is hard a on a dogs skin...dogs are also susceptible to allergies...

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

to help himis to take him to a vet that`s it .because you don`t know the problem.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Sounds like allergies. Allergies can be caused by food, fleas or environmental causes (like pollen).

Choose a high quality food. I feed my allergic dog California Natural which is formulated for allergic dogs and has few ingredients and ones that tend not to trigger allergies. Look for a food with no corn or wheat. Though rare, my dog is also allergic to lamb so it takes some detective work to find out what the triggers are. A food like CA Natural is good because there are only a few ingredients.

Keep the dog on Frontline Plus or Advantage at all times. Even one flea can cause miserable flea allergies.

Regular baths with an oatmeal dog shampoo can remove allergens from coats. My dogs get done 1-2 times a month.

Dogs can get benadryl to control itching. Ask your vet how much is the right dose for your dog. If nothing else works, there are other treatments your vet can try and if absolutely nothing helps, a veterinary dermatologist as a last resort can usually get to the bottom of it. This helped my friends dog when everything else failed. Good luck.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

ok.gave him a nice warm bath or gave him a medicines on his skins to stop stratching.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

sounds to me like your dog is suffering from allergies. best thing to do is take your pooch to the vet to be sure. he will probably need antibiotics for the sores as well. until you get him to the vet ask yourself has ANYTHING around him changed around the same time he started scratching? (his food, bowl, environment, etc.)if so change it back or have him avoid them! you can put some hydrocortizone cream(get it in any drugstore) on his sores and where hes scratching or wash him with an oatmeal shampoo until you get him to a vet(that should help with the itching).but these are only soothers until you get him to a vet because ultimately thats what you need to do!

by the way: superbad what does obedience have to do with a dog with skin problems?

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Shave him

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

What quality of food are you feeding him. Many dogs itch like that if they eat "cheaper" brands of dog food. We have to feed our dogs Iams or one loses all his hair. Make sure you're not feeding any table scraps until you're able to determine whether or not it's a food allergy. Food allergies are becoming more and more common in dogs.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

Well, it definitely sounds like an allergy problem. I'm not sure why your veterinarian would suggest a flea allergy, if there were no evidence of fleas. Are you certain that your dog is flea free?

If he's not being treated with a topical 'spot on' flea preventative, chances are he could have picked up some fleas, especially if he's been adopted and maybe not had the best of care previously. It doesn't need a whole lot of fleas to set up a reaction, it's the flea saliva dogs are allergic to and just a few bites can cause problems. you can find out more about dog allergies at this url http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-a...

If you're certain it's not fleas, I'd suggest looking for iother possible causes - such as a contact allergy (maybe to a new bed/bedding etc.) or dog food allergies - this is pretty common.

Most allergies cause skin problems, such as excessive itching, biting, scratching and so on. usually producing red, irritated skin, hot spots etc. Do watch for any signs of infection such as swelling, 'hot' areas, pus etc. If this happens you'll need antibiotics from your veterinarian.

Otherwise, you're only option is to try to eliminate the allergy trigger by changing your dogs food to one that's been designed for dogs with sensitivities/allergies ( http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/dog-f... )and also paying attention to his environment (maybe change his bed, use different detergent, shampoo etc,.).

To help keep him more comfortable and reduce the itching for now, try a product with hydrocortisone which helps with itching and inflammation. There are also natural products and food supplements for these conditions. You can see a range of products to help your dog at the url below. Best of luck, hope he's doing better soon.

How can i get my dog to stop scratching?

It's either mange or allergies. You need a vet.

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

I had a min-pin...they are so cute! They love to dig and escape though so watch out!

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

short hair dogs don't shed as much as long hair. they all shed but there is a lot of difference. Also if you keep them brushed good regular this cuts down on the hair loss you find on the floor. But if your brother is this allergic. you may have to make choice of sneezing or dog.

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

i have a maltese and he does not shed at all. bichon frise is also another non-shedder. hope this helps

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

Corgi. They do shed, but all dogs do and if you brush him/her regularly it will not be a problem. not only that they are the most friendly dogs in the world. They are long and short. There are two different kinds: Pembroke and Welsh. Theyr coloring is similar, but one kind has a tail and the other has a verry cute lovable stub.

they dont shed at all they have hair not fur

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

try bichon. cousin has one, rarely sheds

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

Min pins are very cute. . . the half of the time they're not obsessed with something outside and/or plotting to take over the world. . . don't shed much (just short little hairs), and are pretty good at self-exercising if need be (laps around the couch!). . .

BUT

. . . you really have to work to keep a step or two ahead of most of them and you have to be able to say no to all those "but I'm sooo cute, can't I get away with it this time?" looks unless you want your house to be run by a little dog within the week.

I know there are also several short-haired terriers that are about as low-maintenance as a min pin and within the 7- to 20-lb range. They're all slightly different, so I'd suggest you take a look at those as well?

Does anyone know a small to medium cute dog that doesn't shed alot?

The maltese does not shed. It is also very adorable if bred well. Maltese don't need a lot of exercise. Usually, all they need is a walk through the park. :) You can cut there hair short, too. :) Maltese have hair not fur. :)

Any suggestions of Dog Food for dog with Yeast Infection?

My 18lb, 4 year old, Lhaso Apso mix gets external yeast infection. Oily hair, itches, foul odor, belly and arm pits are almost black. He has received meds in past and shots, I don't want to keep going that way, danger to liver eventually. I've researched what to be sure ISN'T in foods, but does anyone have suggestions of brands that don't use by-products, brewer's rice, cereals, sugar in the ingredients. I will ask the vet but wanted to get started right away on the diet switch.

Any suggestions of Dog Food for dog with Yeast Infection?

If you belive your dog has food allergies and they are that severe I would recommend trying a forumla from California Natural that uses a unique protin and grain source as well such as herring and sweet potato or venison and brown rice. They also don't contain any of the ingredinats you listed.

Here is there site http://www.naturapet.com/brands/californ...

If that doesn't stop it is is probalby not a food allergy if it does you can add things back in one at a time to pinpoint the problem. Good Luck.

Any suggestions of Dog Food for dog with Yeast Infection?

I use Life's Abundance from Trilogy. It is a mail order food sent to your home. It is the best and freshest on the market. I would not use any other products. They have a whole line for cats and dogs and humans. It is very convenient for me also. My furbabies love it too!

Any suggestions of Dog Food for dog with Yeast Infection?

The major cause of yeast infection in dogs is Corn and Corn by-products!

I recommend you read food labels and get her on a food that has meat or meat meal listed as at least the first four ingredients, and has no corn or wheat products.

Canidae is my food of choice, check it out.

What is wrong with this dog??

My boyfriend's Parents dog she's a lab and chow ok she smells really bad smells the whole house up and she's lost a **** load of hair the only thing I know is that she has fleas and they only gives her a bath once a month.

What is wrong with this dog??

Needs to see the VET! Could be an infection!

Bad owners, Chows and Chow mixes need to be brushed DAILY!

Are they using shampoo when they give her a bath?

If they aren't brushing her then the soap can't get to the skin!

POOR DOG!

What is wrong with this dog??

maybe they need new shampoo for the fleas, on vet check.....

What is wrong with this dog??

she needs to go to a vet.

What is wrong with this dog??

If she has fleas, she may have a flea allergy which may be causing skin infections. That would both cause the odor and the hair loss. This dog should be taken to the vet and treated.

What is wrong with this dog??

Friends of ours have chows and they smell alot. The fur might be falling out because of a flea allergy or from the dog constantly scratching. The dog needs a flea shampoo treatment as soon as possible. To take care of the odor problem there are shampoos on the market that are perfumed. I would wash the dog at least twice a month with a shampoo that is gentle yet contains a nice smell.

What is wrong with this dog??

The dog might be allergic to the fleas. My friend had a cat that was allergic to fleas and it scratched and pulled all of its hair out. It had to go on medication. It should go to a vet.

What is wrong with this dog??

the vet is a really good idea. you should really only wash a dog once a month. unfortunatly, some dog breeds just smell more than others.

What is wrong with this dog??

Having a bath once a month isn't a problem but if she is quite smelly then maybe every two weeks could be better, what they need to do is prevent the fleas with something like frontline. Is the skin around where there is hairl oss red? Perhaps the dog has flea dermatitis, an allergic reaction to the fleas.

What is wrong with this dog??

fleas, mange can do these things, take it to a vet

What is wrong with this dog??

It could be mange. Probably needs a special medicated shampoo. They should take it to the vet, but if they don't have the extra money for that right now, they should call the vet or a pet store, (go online and check internet vet suppliers like Jeffers) and buy some medicated shampoo, follow directions. Also, they need to get rid of the parasites with a product like Frontline Plus that can be bought at a vet supplier like Jeffers.

What is wrong with this dog??

they need to buy anti flea shampoo

What is wrong with this dog??

Tell them to take it to the vet, why some people have dogs.

What is wrong with this dog??

Well you answered your own question. They don't bath her and they don't treat her fleas.

There is nothing wrong with the dog that regular grooming and flea control wouldn't help. That's not the dogs fault. It the negligent owners.

As far as the dog loosing it's hair, well it could be a combination of not been cleaned and the fleas, but it could also be the food it is eating. Many dogs who have skin problems have problems with their hair falling out. Just like people we need to bath ourselves and look after any infections or our hair will fall out. And he is probably getting infected between the fleas and the dirt.

What is wrong with this dog??

of course, the vet is the first order of business, but did you ever think MAYBE the dog is allergic to the shampoo??? try changing shampoos AFTER you take the animal to a vet.

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

I have a 10 week old Boxer puppy losing her hair. We brought her home about 2 weeks ago and she seems to be doing well. We have one other dog, that is small, and they play all the time. Our puppy seems to be fine except the patched of hair she is losing. They are dime sized patches all over that she is losing. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

Best bet is bring the animal to the vet for there are many reasons why a dog loses hair.

1. 99% of dogs are allergic to beef, try changing its brand of dog food to lamb and rice. No beef products

2. 50$ of dogs are allergic to grass and dirt. In this case the dog would nees injections of either benedryl or cortizone.

3. It could be ringworm, very contagious to humans and other animals. This needs to be treated professionally with medications. They are round bald patches that have no hair what so ever. Even the slightest bit of hair does not symbolize ringworm.

4. Since it is a puppy it could have demadex mange. Not contagious to other animals. Normally it is the hormones within the puppy and clears of with proper medication. Even altering an animal can fix this problem because you are removing these hormones.

Like I said, dogs get many skin conditions and needs to be seen by the vet, so a proper diagnosis can be given

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

demodectic mange

She needs a skin scraping.

There is a possibility that it is ringworm, but since it is a puppy, I would assume it is demodectic mange. The preferred treatment is large doses of ivermectin. It is not contagious to dogs with healthy immune systems. Good luck.

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

The best place to start would be with a vet...

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

Ya, most likely mange. But, there are other possibilities.

It could be stress licking/scratching. A new home is very stressful to pups and they may over groom and get a few patches.

Or, it might be allergies. Ten percent (I'm told) of dogs have some sort of allergy (usually food) that can have a lot of different symptoms. Chronic ear infections (and general grubbiness of the ear), irregularity of bowel movements, hot spots, hair loss, etc. I'm not sure if a dog that young can have allergies though.

Whatever it may be, you should go to the vet. It's best to be sure, especially with puppies.

10 wk old boxer pup losing hair.?

i can be fleas just take her to the vet

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

He is a golden retriever. I have a pit bull but her hair is short so she isn't the problem. I amhaving real trouble breathing and tightness in the chest. I don't believe in putting the dog outside all day, that's just not fair. What can I do to lessen the allergens?

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

There are medications your doctor can prescribe you for the allergies, but other than that, there are no options other than finding the Golden a new home.

If you come to the decision of re-homing your Golden, look for a Golden Retriever rescue in your area, but if there isn't one, take her to the SPCA. Neither organizations euthanize and they have very strict adoption regulations to assure a very good home.

Good luck.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

1. buy an allergen reducing shampoo for the dog

2. Get on an allergy medication

3. Brush dog frequently to reduce shedding and dander.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

wow. maybe you should take clariten or benedryl. (non-drowsy) also use fabreeze~!! it works great on pet oders/hair. use lint rollers to pick up the hair, and keep your house very clean (vaccum and sweep ALOT!!).

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

An airpurifier, ask you doctor for meds and other ways to lessen the allergens, like wear a mask when you vacuum or whenever. Also allergen reducing shampoo for dogs, brushing your dog outside helps to get rid of shedding and dander. Good luck

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

My husband is allergic to my cat and to our dogs, so, I vacuum and dust daily. I also wash them weekly and brush them out every day. He doesn't complain about the chest tightness and stuffy head anymore. Seemed to help. Lots of work, but well worth it.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

Febreeze also has a new allergy reducing spray that works like regular febreeze I am not sure how well it works but it is worth a try.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

I have the same problem. I would get so sick, I could see the glands in my neck swollen in the mirror in the morning. My eyes would get swollen, almost shut, and I had so much fluid in my ears, one of my eardrums ruptured. I vacuum a lot with Arm'n'Hammer pet hair release powder to get up more hair. They also make a powder with allergen reducers for vacuuming. Brush the dog a lot. I used to take allergy medication (Allegra D), but then I started allergy shots (I'm pretty allergic to a lot of things) and now I don't take the medicine except in the Spring (only for about a week), the rest of the time, I just keep up with my allergy shots (after a while, it's once every 3 to 4 weeks, it takes about 45 minutes at the doc, though, but at least I'm not taking a pill every day). If you go do a doctor (and you probably should to get medicine that is better than the otc stuff) go to an allergist, not a general practitioner.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

They make shampoos for the dog. You will have to wash him pretty frequently, but it is worth it. They also have medication out for pet allergies. I have a friend who uses them and is as happy as can be.

I am allergic to my dog. Is there anything I can do to lessen the allergens?

i have to take allergy shots. its not the hair your allergic to,,its the dander,%26amp; if your allergic to one dog, your allergic to any.

Can my dog still be cured?

My dachshund's hair are falling off. Now, her skin is visible. I think there are worms or flea or something in her body. Can she be cured? How long will she recover? Will her hair grow again?

Can my dog still be cured?

yes, go to the vet immediately. it should be a long while though. goodluck

Can my dog still be cured?

better contact the vet, instead of yahoo answers

Can my dog still be cured?

yes oof course it will, but it will take time and money like anything else

Can my dog still be cured?

Your dog probably has mange- which is a small parasite on their skin. Read the link below. I know it's wikipedia, I don't trust it since anybody can edit the site, but it has some pics and I'm sure the info is close to accurate. Take your pet to the vet.

Can my dog still be cured?

Have you taken your dog to the vet? This sounds like something that will be very simple to cure with the proper medication.

Can my dog still be cured?

No one here can examine your dog, so no one here can tell you the answer.

Hair loss in dachshunds is fairly common, especially in the chest area, but is possible everywhere. The cause might be anything from a genetic hair loss condition to parasites, or something else entirely. To determine the cause and if there are treatment options, a visit to the vet is certainly in order.

Can my dog still be cured?

Please call your vet, if not open call an er after hrs vet......don't wait please

Can my dog still be cured?

good luck

Can my dog still be cured?

It could be mange because when my dogs had it it made their hair fall out but the vet gave them some medication for it.

Can my dog still be cured?

yes your pet will be cured, bring your dog to the best vet around you, search the Internet for proper dog care

Can my dog still be cured?

You need to take her to the vet it sounds like she might have mange hope she doesent. best of luck.

Can my dog still be cured?

Fleas aren't IN the body, they're skin parasites. This could be fleas, mange, ringworm (a fungus, not actually a worm) allergies or hormonal. Fleas are most likely if you're not treating the dog regularly like you're supposed to. Take the dog to a vet, like you're supposed to do when you're worried about it.

Did they splice "Cat Genes" Into the Bichon dog breed?

We have a bichon, which is a small dog. But it does cat-like things, like walking along the back of the sofa, curling itself around you neck when you sit down, and pulling your hair with it's teeth when it wakes you up in the morning. Our first bichon did not do "cat-like" stuff, but we and a friend of ours are on our second bichons and these dogs have cat traits. What is the answer?

Did they splice "Cat Genes" Into the Bichon dog breed?

No. That's typical small dog behaviour. One of my Dachshunds does the "curl behind the back" thing while driving. Not easy to deal with at 70 mph!

Did they splice "Cat Genes" Into the Bichon dog breed?

Bichon is an excellent example of cross breeding between dogs and feral cats.

Bedlington terrier is a successful cross between a dog and an old english sheep.

Did they splice "Cat Genes" Into the Bichon dog breed?

Haha, my family has 3 Papillons and they are also very cat-like- they chanse things with their paws, pounce, etc. Obviously, you can't actually have feline genes in a canine, but it sure seems like they do sometimes.

Did they splice "Cat Genes" Into the Bichon dog breed?

I am certain no splicing of cat genes into any dog has ever been done except perhaps by Dr Evil

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

I sometimes see dog shows on T.v. I always see the yorkies and the malteses and such...How do they get such long hair...Something I always wondered but forgot until now. Any answers?

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

Many of the little dogs like that, with the coats on the floor, do not lead normal lives while they are showing. They live on white paper, since carpet will break the coat. Their coats are wrapped up in paper wrappers to prevent damage. They are groomed daily, using the best conditioners, brushes, shampoos etc. They are fed the best quality diets. And they have the genes to produce that coat.

Once they retire they get to be dogs.

I'm glad I have a breed that can play in the mud one day, and be a show dog the next.

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

it grows that long. dogs that are from show stock, that is, their parents, grandparents, etc are show dogs, they are ably to grow hair that long. You can see dogs of that same breed, but not of show lineage and their hair will never get that long. They can even be fed the exact same diet and everything. It's in the genes. long floor length hair gets in the way of working dogs/family pets, so that wasn't something breeders pushed. Once the dog made it to the show ring, their coats started to get longer.

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

first off, you start them as a pup, get them used to all aspects of grooming. then you brush daily, bathe weekly with high grade shampoos/conditioners, and study the breed standard for your dog and make it as close to that as possible.

it helps to have experiance with your breed, and to have been around them for a long time. there are so many details in what judges look for in dog shows. it also helps if you know a little something about grooming, at least when it comes to the specific breed you show

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

Work, work, work. I've seen tiny little dogs at shows with more products for their hair than an average salon. They get preened and combed and trimmed endlessly. They are always so patient too - used to it I suppose. I've never really understood it myself. I'd far rather, for example, a bichon frise in its natural coat than one that looks like a powder puff with a big square head.

I got a question about dog's coats in shows...?

I knew a shihtzu breeder and she would keep her dogs up on wire all the time. They never touched the ground. Kind of sad to me.

I believe they also roll the air up in sections and wrap it with tissue and small rubber bands.

With my cockers....I always brushed their hair when wet...not dry as that would break the ends of the coat. When feeding them , I always pulled their ears up to keep the hair from getting chewed on. I bathed them frequently to get rid of dirt that could also damage the hair and used lots of conditioner to keep the coat conditioned. But I let them be dogs first, then show dogs...so they got to run around in the yard and go for walks/jogs with me. Their coats may not have been the "best" in the show ring, but they were always in shape and had good muscle tone.

A children's from the 90's that was a toy dog that gave birth via velcro belly. Name?

My sister had this toy dog back when we were kids ('95-'98) and it had a hole in it's belly that was held closed with Velcro, but when you pried it open, you would find puppies (smaller versions of the mom).

The dog was long, and usually had odd color fur (purple or pink), and long white hair for it's tail and head. It was NOT pound puppies, although, I suppose it could have been some version of pound puppies and I didn't know it. If anyone can give me a ANY ideas as to what this toy was called I will be very thankful.

A children's from the 90's that was a toy dog that gave birth via velcro belly. Name?

Puppy surprise! Puppy surprise! How many baby puppies will there be inside?

(Yeah, the TV ads of the 90s got to me too much).

A children's from the 90's that was a toy dog that gave birth via velcro belly. Name?

I have no idea what the name of the dog is, but we bought one for my daughter and still have it at home, along with one of the puppies. It was one of her favorite toys.

A children's from the 90's that was a toy dog that gave birth via velcro belly. Name?

i think it was pound puppies. i cant remember for sure but i do know what you are talking about....

Ey, does your hair fall off? Like strands?

It happens to me. I'm an 18 year old female. I eat relatively normal. I'm not anoerexic and stuff so I dont have the problem of hair falling out for any of that type of reason. I weigh 125 at 5'4. I'm pretty normal. I just shed like a dog?? Anyone know a possible reason? I looked all over the internet. Cant find any reason.

Ey, does your hair fall off? Like strands?

Its normal for a healthy person to lose 100 strands of hair per day, its part of the normal hair growth cycle. Old hair must be shed to let new hair follicles grow out.

If you notice that it begins to fall out in large clumps or you see any bald spots on your head, go see your doctor.

Ey, does your hair fall off? Like strands?

everyone loses strands of hair. We constantly lose dead hair and grow new hair. Women especially lose hair for the first year after having a baby, especially when breast feeding. But it does not break off, it falls out. If yur hair is breaking you need a really good haircut

Ey, does your hair fall off? Like strands?

its normal, i loose hair everyday too like a couple of strands each time i brush my hair go to kidshealth.org and then click teens and try searching it there, and it says its normal for strands of hair to fall of ur head, because it grows for 6 months or so then falls off and then new hairs grow. so dont worry.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mut

These were my favourite cartoons growing up in 1970's UK, so do not know if Barbar Papa was shown abroad (He was a big pink patatoe shaped creature that could change into every shape you could immagine) Dino Mutt used to be shown on TISWAS and was a robot dog with super powers whos limbs and neck stretched. The Lassie one I recall had a panther callled TOOTHLESS as we nick named our Dad this as he had no teath, my brother and I. The HAir Bear Bunch was abou 3 bears one of which had the biggest afro hair dooever.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

Brings back memories. If you remember those, have a look at this quiz.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

hell yes I do - the Hair Bear Bunch was one of the most deliciously terrible cartoon concepts ever, which of course means I dug the $#!T out of it. Think about it, the plot was so awesomely rad - 3 bears who just want to hang out in their super-pimp lair and not get hassled by the man (literally), who for whatever reason was totally h8ing on their game, probably because he was such a socially inept douchebagg that all he could do with his free time was hang around the zoo and try to expose the fold-away sofa and swivel-bar of 3 talking animals. Kinda like a sadder version of your classic 80's college/frat movies... but in a zoo.

DinoMutt hung out with this guy called the Blue Falcon, and his show was so moronic and inane I believe it was actually declared criminal in some minor and unimportant countries. The only reason I even remember it is because of BF, and not because he was all pimp-tyte game-in-your-face or anything. In the Army, "blue falcon" is a way to call someone a BF, which stands for "buddy f@*ker." Say, for example, you need someone to cover for you in the office, but instead the guy dimes you out like a dirty rat - THATS a "blue falcon." So, somehow that has something to do with DinoMutt, I guess.

The other cartoons you mentioned didn't quite... make it to America. Not to be a shameless cultural chauvinist, but I think the heartwarming adventures of a somewhat clever dog and a toothless jungle cat might've been too far-fetched for even OUR addled brains, though to be fair, I'd lay down good hard cash to see such a thing at this very moment. As for the shape changing pink potato...? I've heard movie talk - I believe Pauly Shore is slated to direct, but I don't want to start any rumors prematurely, y'know.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

The Hair Bear bunch had an invisible motorbike! Do you remember Goober and the Ghostchasers?

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

OO OO Mr Pevley!,Mr Peveley!.....I remember the hair bears!

Was'nt too keen on Barbarpapa....and Dino-mutt was'nt the best part of TISWAS!......gotta be the phantom flan-flinger...or the bucket of water song!

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

The Hair Bear Bunch is legendary, can't say I remember the others.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

remember all but the Barbar papa, that must have been a UK thing.. the other shows came on after Hannah Barberas world of super adventure

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

Yes, Hanna-Barbera's HELP! It's The Hair Bear Bunch and Dynomutt Dog Wonder were two of my favorite shows...ANYTHING made by Hanna-Barbera was my favorite show.

Does anyone recall the cartoons The Hair Bear Bunch, Lassies Rescue Rangers Baraba Papa and Dino Mutt?

I remember Lassie's Rescue Rangers. At least, I remember the fact that it existed. Not much more than that. I never liked the Hair Bear Bunch, but I dug Dyno-Mutt Dog Wonder and the Blue Falcon. Do they still show those on Boomerang?

I miss my dish! :(

Am I odd about my dog?

I have an elder St. Bernard with arthritis. His hair is turning grey and it takes him longer to eat his meals than it used to be. When my precious boy goes to heaven, I want to have him cremated and put him in a spot he loves (kind of like scattering peoples ashes in the ocean or in the mountains). My husband thinks its weird and would rather just dig a hole. He is my first dog and my precious boy and I think he should get the same respect as a human would. Is this weird?

Am I odd about my dog?

People who really love there animals do tend to think of them as there children. We have to protect them, love them, teach them, feed them, bath them and the list goes on so why no think of them as our babies. I would do for my pets just as I would my children. I do not think you are weird at all. Your husband probably just is not connected the same way. Some men just don閳ユ獩 show emotion that much. A st. Bernard huh? That is one big whole. And a lot of work for the man. He loves you and will want to do what ever it is needed for you to get through your time of morning.

Am I odd about my dog?

it is deff. not weird. last year my dog died and it was so heartbreaking cause we werent even home. we had him cremated and is sitting ontop of our fireplace. its not weird to cremate your animal, its normal.

goodluck with your dog.

Am I odd about my dog?

It may be weird but lots of people do it. Check with your vet, s/he will know who to call to make the arrangements. Sounds like your baby is in good hands; until his time comes, enjoy him while you can.

(And does your dear husband realize just how BIG a hole will be needed to bury a Saint Bernard? Tell him the cremation will be a lot easier on his back.)

Am I odd about my dog?

HUMANS GET BURRIED IN HOLES TOO THAT IS RESPECTFUL.ALL MY PETS ARE BURRIED ON OUR PROPERTY AND I FEEL THEY ARE STILL IN THE FAMILY.

Am I odd about my dog?

You should do whatever eases your pain. It's a very personal decision, just like dealing with the death of a human family member. Some people prefer a burial, but I like the idea of your best friend's ashes being free to float on the wind in a place where he was happy. Your husband should respect whatever decision you make. Remind him that you will probably be deciding where HE will be buried someday - if he's cruel and insensitive HIS ashes might wind up at the county dump!

Am I odd about my dog?

I think cremation is a wonderful idea! We have pet graves scattered around my parent's property, but most of them were wild barn cats and the like! For a beloved first pet like your dog, keeping him close in a place he loved is a perfect ending to his happy life with you. I hope your dog meets his final days with peace and dignity.

Am I odd about my dog?

Not at all weird.

Am I odd about my dog?

It isn't weird at all. Some people care about their animals like they do their children. I have an 8 year old Yorkshire Terrier that I've had since she was 4 weeks old. She's my baby and I will be lost when she eventually dies.

Do what makes you feel good. It will be easier for you to deal with his passing when it happens.

How can i stop my dog for licking?

my dog is 13 years in human years and we got him to stop licking where he don't don't have hair but now he comes in my room and i am 14 year old (male) and he goes under my blanket and try to fit his head in my boxers and he does (he is a toy fox terrier) and he starts licking my privet areas. Sometimes he will get on my bed and growl and not let me on my bed if i just got out of shower cause i usasly sit there and get the cloth i want to wear and he will try to lick me there. Can u tell me how i can stop him from doing this it makes sick he does this cause it nasty to me and i can't go to bed sometimes cause of this. *Please tell me how to stop him so i can go to sleep or sit on bed in my towel to find close* Thank you! (please don't report this either i need to know what to do)

How can i stop my dog for licking?

Thats so funny but sick at the same time, everytime he does it tap his nose hard and say No! I'm so gald you don't get off on that...lol But off the no bull try that but if that doesn't work contact me at icemanking90@yahoo.com. I'll think of something else.

How can i stop my dog for licking?

Uh, I know you are only 14, but come on. Shut the dog out of the room when you are not dressed! Simple as that. The dog should be be allowed to stick its head in your boxers and lick your private parts unless you let it!

Edited: Put a chair or something to block the door, so he can't get in.

How can i stop my dog for licking?

That is disgusting, and wrong. You need to take that dog to an animal therapist or something. Don't let the dog be the boss of you-who's the one who bought him in the first place?

How can i stop my dog for licking?

what got him started to begin with.? it should have been punished the first time and it may have been gotten under control.. sounds like he wasnt punished the first time.you may have to spray your private area with some bitters until he stops. does he know the stern word NO along with the bitters.I see no other way to do it.u may not like the bitters or hot stuff but its worh a try and send the dog to another room to sleep

How can i stop my dog for licking?

Well your dog is in need of something and you need to lightly slap his snout and say in a firm voice "no" I would also let you folks know what he is doing and see if getting him to to vet would help, he doesn't need to be given away, even though that may be their first instinct to see if the vet can help with this issue. Good luck

How can i stop my dog for licking?

Let your dog out of your room first so that you'll ba able to shower.

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

My dog is 15 years old, she is very well-behaved, except when it comes to grooming, the older she gets the worst she is! as soon as you want to clean her eyes, cut a hair or simply brush her, it's a real challenge! even for the professional groomers!!!

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

I AM a PROf. GROOMER... WHat i would recomend would find a VET with a groomer,, That way the dog can get a mild sedation under supervision of a vet. Dont hold the dog down,., Its can be too Tramatic! Dont try it yourself, but Under sedation there wont be any Accidents ( the dog moves when your trying to scissor the face,, you poke the eye) (hasnt happened to me ) ITS THE SAFEST WAY!!!

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

They do have sedatives that will calm them. My boss uses them for her dog because he's afraid of thunderstorms. It's not harmful to the animal.

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

If the dog is small enough you might still need 2 people to hold her down. It sounds harsh but the more scared they are the more the cooperate. I have a Chihua and once a week we do the "works". Bath first, then cut nails, brush, and medicines... she is so worn down from all of it she usually doesnt fight back to much, compared to if you just try and grab her out of nowhere and cut her nails.

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

I find my dogs behavior is directly related to how much I stroke his undercarriage while trying to groom him. The slower I stroke, the more relaxed and well mannered he is. If I go at it like a madman, Poochie won't hold still to save his life. You just tell the professional groomers to churn poochies butter at a slow to medium pace and he'll behave just fine for you. If you need any more help, feel free to pm me.

How do I get my dog to well-behave while being groomed?

The MORE scared the WORSE the dogs act...I may be only 13 but I have a Saturday job where I help groom dogs with a pro. groomer. Usually you just ahve to disaplin the dog. tell her bad. It may be hard because the dog is 15 but it might work. Also grooming her yourself also helps get her used to it.

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

I was just curious which parts of Alpha Dog were true and which parts were exaggerated. For example, the whole breaking into the house and pooping on the floor?

And does anyone else love Keith? He was so dirty with his long black hair but yet I was in love with him!

So can you just divide the truth and the false! Thank you!

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

If you google Jesse James Hollywood or Nick Markowitz, there are some articles that give a pretty accurate description of the events leading to Nick's kidnapping and murder. The film changed the setting (the real events took place in the San Fernando Valley and Santa Barbara) and escalated some of the details (I do not remember ever hearing that Ben actually pooped on the floor, but as I recall he did either break in or at least vandalize the house). It is hard for me to say too much more without expressing some personal feelings about the situation, but if you are truly interested, do the research and don't listen to the people who spout off opinions without really knowing about the situation.

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

im not sure about that i saw the middle-end of the movie but they exxagerated lots of the parts it was loosley based on the life of this guy..cant remember the name but everythign else was made up.

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

The kidnapping and murder are real...just about everything else is made up for the effect.

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

Justin is soooooo hot in that movie :)

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

type alpha dog on the computer and it will bring up the film, it will explain it for you

True or False in Alpha Dog.?

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

Hi. I adopted a neglected bison pup/dog 7 months ago. He is extremely well cared for here. He is neutered and approx. 1 or 1 1/2 years old. I noticed his penis was swollen and pertruding during our daily 4 mile walk. I took him to the vet (the pertrusion was gone), she said he may've smelled a female in heat. My male shih-tzu did not have the problem. I thought maybe the good weather was a factor... (i didn't know). However, I have noticed this pertrusion 5 or 6 times since then. Which is probably within a month. However, I did shave his hair shorter.... maybe i am just noticing it now. However, what makes this happen... is he okay? He is also starting to lick it. The only concern he has that i know of, is his skin ailment. he has allergies and bites his paws alot. can you help? Thanks in advance.

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

That happens when they get "excited". And yes, it is possible for a neutered male to get "excited". My male does it sometimes. I tell him to put it away. lol.

As for his licking it, he's just keeping it clean. Practicing good hygiene you might say.

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

i think he has to pee. thats what happens when my friends dog needs to go pee. or the whole HEAT thing

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

Some male dogs do this whether neutered or not. (What is a Bison pup?)

Good luck with the allergies.. often a change in diet will help.

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

1. NEVER say pen** online here 2. he might have to pee.....

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

I don't know what makes it happen, but one of my male dogs (neutered) has that happen fairly often as well and he's been perfectly healthy since we got him 10 years ago, so I wouldn't worry about it, even if it is a little gross.

2 year old neutered dog's penis extrudes and swells.?

I had one of my dogs ( I breed retriever so I have had quite a few male dogs over 25 years) do that when he was a juvenile. Put it down to testosterone, it is likey he is having an erection. He will grow out of it.

Grass seed allergy or cancerous growth in dog?

My dog had a pink lump on her leg (not on her elbow) I wasn't too worried about it because I thought it must have been from the concrete or she nibbled it. But its a really pink colour, has no hair, it was raised and quite wide. Probably 2cm diameter.

Yesterday I checked and she has a few more down her leg and smaller one on the side of her belly, so I'm taking her to the vet today.

She doesn't seem in pain and is alert and playful. What else could it be.

What do grass seed allergy look like in dogs. Do cancerous growths really grow all in the same spot, I thought there would only be one growth.

Just after any info available. I have done net searches but haven't come up with much. I hope i'm worrying for nothing.

Thanks in advance :)

Grass seed allergy or cancerous growth in dog?

I have had several experiences with Mast Cell Tumors over the years with my dogs. They are usually just one tumor. I've also had experience with allerigies in dogs which most of the time shows as a rash or hives. It sounds like your dogs bumps may be insect bites. Only your vet can tell you for sure. Paws crossed its something that can be treated easily. Good luck!

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

My 12 yr old male shep/rott mix is itchy and after a bath I noticed he has black stuff coming out of his pores. His hair sharft is covered in it and it is smeared on the surrounding skin and hair. Does anyone know what this is or where I can get some information?

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

It sounds like your dog has a very serious infection in his stomach and or respiratory tract. This can be caused by having a stomach full of insects or can be caused from internal parasites. The only safe and correct advice I can give you is to get your beardie to a vet that is able to treat reptiles ASAP.

But thats if it smells bad. Is it also kinda clear?

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

go 2 the vet!!!!

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

flacky or liquid?? if its flacky black stuff its flea dirt(feces) and your dog needs some flea medicine. If its liquid you need to go to vet

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

yuck! take him to the vet and you should be arrested for having your dog nasty like that! gross!

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

OMG, never heard of such a thing, to the vet ASAP !!

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

This just like the brown guck that comes out of a chihuahuas eyes or any other small dogs eyes buts in the head thats a little weard or this can eather be flea eggs i would take the dog to the vet or to save money just look it up on the internet http://www.pestproducts.com/flea-egg.htm it may be flea eggs http://nzymes.com/L_pages/is_it_allergie... and that is a site on ichy dogs take a look!! welcom

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

Your dog probably has mange, and it will get worse with time. He could lose his hair.

Get some sulfer shampoo and some sulfer powder and use it regularly.

Also, change his diet, ask your vet what kind of diet he should be on, because this is also an auto-immune disease and his diet has alot to do with it.

IVD is a really good diet for dogs with skin problems, allergies, or other problems, but it is a prescription diet and can only be gotten from a vet, and it's expensive. My dog is on IVD because he has allergies.

Use the sulfer and talk to a vet.

My dog seems to be excreting black gunk from his pores.?

sounds like fleas. If he has a bad infestation the flea poo is black stuff- (from the dog blood that they eat!) and itchy. Give him a good flea bath, treat your house, and put a flea collar on him. If that isn't it, take him to the vet~

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

I'm dog sitting two Malteses, and one of them always gets poop stuck to his fur. I cleaned it the first time with soap and water, cut off some hair the second, but now he's done it a third time, and there's a lot. It's almsot like he didn't finish. He sits on the couches in the house, and I don't want him to get it all over the place. Is there anything else I can do?

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

If you find the mess while it is still "fresh" and not dried into his fur CORN STARCH is a wonderful cleaner.

Of course I do this outside but I sprinkly corn starch on the mess and then with a slicker brush I brush it out. Not only will it clean up the mess it will leave your dog quite white!

I find when it is dry that baby wipes really do a great job, then once I get it softened I can go to the corn starch.

Last but not least you can ask your groomer to clip or scissor your dog around its rear end so that the hair directly below their anus is shorter and then less likely to collect any mess.

I have two long haired dogs (Collie and Pomeranian) so I have plenty of opportunity to clean.

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

simple. my dog has the same problem

make sure ur hands r clean

with a cotton wool bud dip it into warm water

and simply wipe, this will need doing a fewtimes

then wipe the bum area with a cold cotton wool bud to sooth it

then wash ur hands

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

Buy some baby wipes.

At Target, their generic brand of baby wipes are surprisingly soft.

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

try giving it more water

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

Dingleberries.

I might get a paper towel.

Help with cleaning a dog's backside?

Go to the pet store. They have bath wipes like baby wipes. You can clean him up with those. If you were the owner I would tell you that it sounds like he needs the hair on his backside trimmed so it doesn't get in the way, but I wouldn't cut anymore hair off without the owner's permission.
