Any suggestions on curbing dog agression in my pup?

I got a male gsd from a very rep breeder.both parents were dog friendly.if i bring him to a friends he goes for the neck on their dogs right away if they show any sort of dominance. We went for a walk yesterday and walked past a shepherd mix and he just barked and lunged with hair standing up. i've sent him to doggy day care where he plas with other dogs all day and they say they never see any sign of dog agg. and he's a very well mannered dog. Is he being protective cuz im there? he's only 4 months old.when passing other dogs should i make him sit and correct him for barking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would say he thinks he needs to protect you. Are you showing him that you are the pack leader. You could make him lay down in front of the dogs so he is in a more submissive position than sitting.

The problem is if you let him get away with this as a puppy it will just be dogs then it will be when your neighbor shakes you hand or a kid comes running up to you. You need to let him know you don't need protecting. Your dog will want to protect you from anything and every ting if you don't train him otherwise. The best suggestion I have is to try finding a professional that can help you with that and not one that doesn't use corrections but yet one that doesn't use painful corrections. I don't know how say it but correction is not bad if it is not over used and only used for certain very undesirable behaviors. You don't want a trainer who corrects the dog while he is learning to sit but when he is barking and growling.

I have to tell you the longer you let it go on the more the dog will fight for his dominance later I have a gsd and we learned this way too late so now we just manage his behavior and even had to resort to methods we don't like to use when we are away from home with him. He doesn't bite but he scares people to death with his barking if we don't manage his behavior. People are scared of big dogs so for the sake of your dogs happiness you should get some help soon

if you are in a situation where he does it again, and you have a little space to move. grab him and put him upside down where both his shoulder blades are touchign the ground. get in his face and make eye contact until he looks away. this will teach him to be more submissive to you, and to other dogs.

Ok if he doesnt have any teeth than hje might be growing them in and it might hert him alot. He might need a bone to com the herting in his mouth. Remember when you were a baby and you used to chew on everything? That was because you were growing new teeth. Or you could each him not to do that and take a newspaper and roll it up and then smack him on the nose of but and tell him no when he does that to other dogs. (By the way bitting dogs in teh nck herts them)
