Dog troubles?

Hmm.. Ever since i gave my dog a toy like puppy, she's been acting like a mother(whenever i take it away she cries, treats it likes its her only child and will do anthing to get it back). It's been a week and she developing bumby scally flacky like pimples around her body and is currently losing hair. Is this part of being a mother?!?!she was nuetered before i gave her the puppy.

Do you mean "bumpy, scaly, flaky"? It is possible your puppy had fleas or mites and transmitted it to the older dog

Just for fun...borrow a friends puppy and see what happens. You might be stuck keeping the puppy though.

I would be SHOCKED if a mothering instinct would cause a dog to develop bumpy, scaly, flaky-like pimples. My theory is that either she is allergic to the new toy (unlikely, but possible) or the rash is caused by something else. Take the toy away to see if the rash gets better. If not, make an appointment with the vet.

August is the time our dog's allergies flare up. EVERY August. Maybe the little toy you gave her caused her some stress, when you removed it, and then she was just more prone to showing signs of allergies, from the stress. Perhaps the toy was made of something she was sensitive to? Our dog did not show allergic symptoms as a younger dog, but developed them after she was three or four. Take your dog to the vet to see if it is allergies or something else that needs treatment. Try giving her more attention, walks, trips to a dog park, and see if that helps with her concern over the particular toy that seems like a puppy to her. Do you think she needs a friend?
