The dog has been making those sounds like he's hiccuping, or pulling in air? He's been doing this for days now and for some reason one of the cats is also doing it.
There all eating and playing fine except when this happens. The cat is not doing the hair ball sound.
I have 4 other small animals and there not having this problem just the two.

Hiccuping is a normal thing my dog does it all the time. However if it something that seems to be happening a lot and is contagious to other animals you may want to ask your vet about it. Most vets offices will allow you to call and ask them questions at no charge.

my dogs done the same thing when they were a bit younger, the vet told me it was eating and drinking and then running around to play straight after. try to encourage them to be calm for a while after eating, as the running around can make some dogs ill or have stomach problems in future. good idea - to have their play and running around before eating instead.

My boxer does that usually after he drinks a lot of water. Vet said not to worry about it unless he's showing any signs of anxiety.
