My Dog Has A Smear Like Thing On His Eye.?

hello, my dog was sleeping next to me while i was watching tv and i started petting home and i guess i startled him and he woke up and looked at me. I looked closer at his eye and i could see something like a smear on it. I'm thinking it might be a hair or something...It doesn't bother him from what i know, I haven't seen him scratching his eye with his paw. any ideas with it is? I'll try to get a picture soon.

its pro bally just some eye goop or some food that got smudges on to his face, just make sure u dont waste a bundle of money on taking him to the vet. I did that once. But if it stays there for more than about 4 days then take him to the vet for sure. I read one of the other answers and this one person said that you have nothing to worry about unless his nose is running too. and that is not true the healthy kind of dog is that their eyes are clear, theres not goop in it, its okay if the goop is on his hair under his eye but if he has goop in his eye that take a damp towel and very gently rup by his eye, hopefully it'll come off. But also a healthy dog needs to have a wet nose running nose is the same thing so definitly do not take him to the vet if his nose is running. That is a good thing.

its probably mucus. just wipe it off with a wet towel.

Nothing to worry about, my dog gets the same thing from time to time, has your dog been lying in a draft as that can cause a film of mucus, by way of protection I suppose!

rub your finger gently over it's eye or get a wet cloth not toilet paper or kleenex that will just leave more debris.lent behind, if it is a hair it will come off. If it does not go to the vet.
