Help save my pet dog?

My 14 year old Rott/Collie/Golden mixed dog is on his last legs. He can't go up the stairs, has trouble just getting up. I would like to have him around a bit longer. Would it be better to have all of him stuffed in a natural pose, or just a head mount for over the fireplace. Or would a nice carpet to snuggle on, made out his nice long, thick hair be the best to remember him by? What would you do?

I would say a head mount is probably too small. A natural pose would be just what you need. have him stuffed sitting and you can keep him by your side. better yet, you could have him mounted sitting on a skateboard and get a new dog to pull him around on the skateboard. now you have two best friends!

Have him put down and cremated and keep his ashes in an urn. Having him stuffed or making a pelt rug/blanket is unhealthy and will not allow you to move on through the grieving process.

please cremate your dog and sprinkle the ashes in his favorite place....would you like your mother to skin you for a rug or stuff your *** and put you in the corner holding a lamp??

Bury him

that would freak me out and anybody who came over to your house.

That's absurd... you should just bury him because cuddling in his fur just makes you move on less.

I would have him cremated and keep his ashes in an urn, maybe sprinkle a few in his favorite outside place too. It would creep me out to have him stuffed or made into a rug.

I wouldn't do any of those. i would take pictures or video. wouldn't seeing him that way just prolong your suffering? better if you remember him the way he was not as a carpet or stuffed toy.

Let Him Go In Piese. It Sounds Like He Is Hurting.

I am really sad about your story but there is nothing you can do, but help him get up and down the stairs and maybe even Carry him, make sure that you give him a lot of attention.Try to have fun while you still can.

p.s If you dog dies, you can always get another dog. I am very sorry, good luck.

You must be sick if you are thinking of making a rug out of his coat... I have all my pets cremated and a nice picture of them in front of the ash box. .. HOWEVER.. before putting him down.. try the glucosomyne tablets with chroidin. That is what I have been giving my dog for 4 years now... she is /has arthritis and if I did not give that to her, she would not be able to walk. It is a people's arthritis vitamin.. A retired vet told me of it some years ago and said to give the tablet twice a day.. the regular glucosamine with Chondroitin or even with MSN... do not worry about the MG.. I give mine 1,000 MG tablests twice a day and I also take one for myself twice a day. ANOTHER thing that I have heard GOOOOOOOD results from.. and that is from an injection of adequan. With this stuff... the dog is injected with it once a week(I believe) for four weeks and then once a month thereafter. When my dog (that is now 16 years old) get worse, that is what I am going to do with my dog.... GOOD LUCK

You should burry your dog and let him rest in peace. You should respect a dead body more than that. When my cat died we cut a bit of her hair, from different spots with different colours, before burrying her. We then glued her hair on a piece of paper and framed it. Her hair will always be there for us to remember her, while her body is respected and put to rest as well.

i have an alsatian 14 yrs old with same problem. to have ur pet round u longer luv n care for him rather than brooding on ur outrageous ideas. opt for mercy killing if its unbearable fr him. but dont put lovers of animals to shame by ur ideas.

When your parents die are you planning on having them stuffed as well?A nice head mount of mom and dad by the front door or maybe over the fireplace?Let your dog go with as much dignity as possible. You don't need him stuffed or as a rug. He'll live on forever in your heart.
