What is the reason for a dog to have their tail under?

My dog was barking at the garage and her tail was hide under her and her hair was up. There was no one in the garage. I was wondering if she was barking because she saw a spirit or something?!

Dogs that are insecure will put their tail between their legs. She could of been scared of something when she was doing this.

She is probably afraid. Possibly she could have seen a spirit. I have a friend who's dog ran up to the spirit and put his front paws on the sprit's legs. Was the garage open? Maybe he saw something outside. If the house isn't old I highly dought it was a ghost.

What is the reason for a dog to have their tail under?

She is scared of something. does she do it a lot? If so let he sniff and look around. Could be a smell that she does not like or a weird sound that she never heard before. For spirits dogs do pick up on that, but that is a unlikely excuse.

What is the reason for a dog to have their tail under?

Ok... here's how it works. Dogs secrete some kind of glands that produce smell from their behind. It's the kind of smell they use for identification. When the dogs get scared they try to hide their beind and thats why their tails go under her (trying to cover the region that produces the smell glands) This action of dogs can be closely associated to humans covering their face when they are scared (basically covering the identity) Its generally when they are scared or being careful.

She was scared and just because you didn't see anything doesn't mean a thing. Pay attention to your dog. Their senses are stronger than ours. She could have just smelled something or someone bad. When this happens take her and go inside as fast as you can.
